Animal care and control
Hot summer days are great, but not so much for our furry friends. It's important to remember that your pet has a limited capacity to deal with the heat. Never leave your pet alone in the car for any period of time, as it can lead to heat stroke which can be fatal.

With services provided under contract by the London Animal Care Centre (LACC), Animal Care & Control's four main areas of responsibility are animal control, by-law enforcement, dog licensing and cat identification program and shelter services for stray animals.
Animal Control
For the protection of residents and visitors to London as well as other animals. Our mandate covers stray dogs, sick, injured, or dying domestic or wild animals except those animals provided for by the London Humane Society and confined cats.
Services are delivered seven days a week, with some conditions. Other functions include rescue matters where animals are in distress, 24 hour emergency service, subsidized spay neuter incentive program .
By-law enforcement
Enforcement of three City of London by-laws:
Issuing Provincial Offences Notice (PONs):
- Part I Certificates (can be paid out of court)
- Part I Summons (requires the recipient to appear in court)
- Part III Summons (requires the recipient to appear in court)
Issuing Notice of Contravention (NOCs) - typically issued to allow a pet owner time to purchase identification.
Issuing verbal and written warnings for the PH-3 animal control by-law and PH-4 Dog licensing & control by-law.
Dog licensing/cat identification programs
Licence applications can be made by at either of the following locations:
London Animal Care Centre (New applications and renewals)
Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
City Clerk's Office (Renewals only) City Hall 300 Dufferin Avenue 519-661-4530 Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Be sure that your pet is wearing a current dog or cat tag. It is mandatory. Licences or tags are one of the best investments you can make to protect your pet.
Fees
Fees are higher for animals that have not been sterilized and for pit bull dogs. Applications for reduced licensing fees must be accompanied by proof of sterilization. Please note: new and/or renewal of pit bull licences must be done in person by the pit bull owner at London Animal Care Centre. Payment accepted: Cash or personal cheque, debit card, Master Card, American Express, Visa * Please bring breed documentation, current rabies vaccination documentation and proof of spay or neuter, if applicable.

Shelter services for stray animals
London Animal Control Centre, 121 Pine Valley Boulevard
Designed to receive stray animals primarily from Animal Control Officers and the general public when necessary.
