We would all like to live in a place where things are kept clean and where we feel safe. The City of London PW-9 By-law is in place to make certain that refuse is not being hoarded, dumped, or poorly contained on properties.
This by-law is primarily enforced through community complaints; however there are certain areas in the City which are enforced proactively on a regular basis due to a history and high volume of complaints.
Some common violations we see include:
- grass and weeds over 20 centimetres (8 inches) in height
- new and used construction materials
- inoperative or unlicensed motor vehicles
- motor vehicle parts and accessories, tires, rims, mechanical equipment
- refrigerator, freezer, stove, other appliances
- open garbage, kitchen waste, cans, containers, dishes, cardboard, food refuse, indoor furniture
- shopping cart, pipes, water or fuel tanks
- grass clippings tree cuttings, brush, leaves, garden refuse
- stock pile of soil or aggregate material
- accumulation of water exceeding 30 centimetres (12 inches) without a temporary barrier
- unmaintained swimming pool water
- graffiti
- uncontained refuse
- refuse container without cover
