Oxford Street West and Gideon Drive Intersection Improvements Environmental Assessment

Background

The intersection of Oxford Street West and Gideon Drive has seen an increase in traffic volume in recent years, because of development growth, including the recent extension of Kains Road. With further growth anticipated in the area, the intersection no longer has the capacity to accommodate current and future traffic demand.

This environmental assessment (“EA”) will look at solutions to improve the safety of the intersection, while also considering future growth and demand.

Options that are being explored include, but are not limited to:

  • installing traffic signals at the intersection
  • implementing a roundabout

As part of this study, the project team will also look at upgrading and replacing underground services such as storm and sanitary sewers and watermains.

Current status

The public review period for the final report and recommendations took place from Thursday, June 23 until July 23 (30 days). The study is now complete.
