Seniors' Satellites

Membership to any satellite is open to anyone aged 55 and over living in any area of London.  Membership to each satellite location is $10.80 (plus HST) per person for one location or $30.30 (plus HST) for all locations, per year. City staff and volunteers manage and operate the Seniors' Satellites.  Various community partners may offer supplementary programming or donate space. 

8 Seniors' Satellites are available to older adults, serving the Argyle, Byron, Medway, Chalmers, Stronach, East Lions, Boyle and Earl Nichols communities. With over 550 members, the Seniors' Satellites prove to be a success throughout London, providing a place where those aged 55 and over can get fit, relax, meet new friends, have fun and volunteer, all within close proximity to their homes.

The following locations offer Seniors' Satellites programs:

  • Byron Seniors’ Satellite - Byron Optimist Community Centre (1306 Norman Avenue)
  • Boyle Seniors’ Satellite - Boyle Memorial Community Centre (530 Charlotte Street)
  • Chalmers Seniors' Satellite - Chalmers Presbyterian Church (342 Pond Mills Road)
  • Earl Nichols Seniors' Satellite - Earl Nichols Recreation Centre (799 Homeview Road)
  • East Lions’ Seniors’ Satellite - East Lions Community Centre (1731 Churchill Avenue)
  • Medway Seniors’ Satellite - Medway Community Centre (119 Sherwood Forest Square)
  • Stronach Seniors’ Satellite - Stronach Recreation Centre (1221 Sandford Street)
Memberships

Membership to each satellite location is $10.80 (plus HST) per person for one location or $30.30 (plus HST) for all locations, per year. Additional fees of $2.50 are charged per class.

For those unable to meet the full cost, financial assistance may be available. Your membership expires 1 year from date of purchase.

You can purchase memberships and activity passes by calling 519-661-5575 with a credit card, visit a customer service centre to use your debit or credit card or purchase memberships online using a credit card

What do you get for being a member?

When you become a member, you have access to the following services:

  • Unlimited access to core programs and activities (as listed below) at your Seniors' Satellites location, at the cost of $2.50 per class for most programs. 
  • An opportunity to help plan programs at the satellite location;
  • An opportunity to share skills and knowledge with others about favourite activities and hobbies;
  • An opportunity to stay connected to Kiwanis and Hamilton Road Seniors' Community Centres through newsletters and information;
Subsidy and accessibility

If you are unable to meet the full costs of recreation programs, financial assistance may be available.  This is based on family income and documentation of income is required.  Assistance may cover up to 100% of the program costs.  Call 519-661-5575 to find out how to apply.

We provide a fee subsidy program to those who are in financial need.  Fee subsidy enhances access to recreation opportunities, including programs and services and memberships to our seniors’ centres.

Seniors' centre memberships

Our membership entitles you to take part in various discounted programs and activities run at Hamilton Road Seniors' Community Centre or Kiwanis Seniors' Community Centre. Stay connected with your community, meet new friends and discover new hobbies and interests through regular activities and volunteer opportunities.

Membership to each seniors' centre is $49.50 (plus HST) per person for one location or $62.90 (plus HST) for both locations, per year

How do I become a member?

You can purchase a membership at either of our seniors’ centres.

You can also call 519-661-5575 to purchase a membership with a valid credit card.

Our staff will be happy to provide you with a guided tour of the facility and a membership package.

Guest program

We offer 2 free visits for you to try programs and services offered at our seniors’ centres. When you arrive at either seniors’ centre, visit our front desk to receive your guest pass card.  With your card, you will receive a program information sheet that will outline which programs and activities you will have access to as our guest.
